SCARCITY CHAPTER 2:
SQUARE OF ABUNDANCE
Detective work, investigative walk, film screening & kiezküche
Hermannplatz, Berlin Kreuzberg / Neukölln
Hermannplatz, a central spot at the junction of Neukölln and Kreuzberg, and for us a Square of Abundance: abundance of people, abundance of goods during the market hours, abundance of struggles, abundance of stories hiding behind statues and posters.
Over two days, we explored the many facets of Hermannplatz: going on a treasure hunt through the neighbourhood, cooking and sharing warm meals at the Platzhalter Kiosk, hacking the door of a broken subway elevator to screen a movie, and walking through the neighbourhood at night with local initiatives to listen to stories of resistance and collective struggles.Thank you
Initiative Hermannplatz for sharing the infrastructure of the Platzhalter kiosk with us, and thank you Niloufar Tajeri, Ana Rodriguez Bisbicus, Tobias M and Stefanie Battisti for sharing your insights and your engagement with us!
