The collectively developed films are in turn the result of bringing together collectively developed texts and actions of the semester "Appropriation“. On the themes of “consumerism, egoism, escapism, the lure of eroticism, vanity, decadence“ a dreaming and trying out of alternative realities and surrealities arose. They correspond to longings which are brought forth by pandemic regulations and by the oppressions of existing architectural places of our present.
The six mixed dream-realities in the form of six triptychs were led back into the public space that was the starting point for the semester: underneath the A100 highway overpass.
At this secret place the images in turn mixed with concrete and water and their sound with music and driving noises, creating a multi-dimensionality and intermingling of reality and surreality.
This evening was joyful and spontaneous, structures were improvised to support projectors and offer seatings and drinks to friends and visitors. While being there, signs of other usages of the space were visible and acted as reminders that all spaces are filled with practices and that these should be respected. This highway overpass can be simultaneously (or at turn) a car infrastructure, an open air cinema, a party spot, a place to sleep or hide, a place to fish in the canal waters and a place to dream and project ourselves.
The videos were written, shot and edited collectively as triptychons and were freely inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights.
Eroticism - Vanity - Consumerism - Decadence - Selfishness
